Geneva to Val Thorens Transfer

Superlative skiing in Europe’s highest-altitude ski resort, sitting pretty at 2300m! Val Thorens is as legendary for its wide, sweeping slopes as it is for its nightlife.

Snow sure skiing in the Three Valleys

Val Thorens, at the end of Belleville Valley, is the highest resort in the whole of the Three Valleys. It’s a totally purpose-built resort and whilst the architecture may not be to everyone’s liking, the epic, snow-sure skiing certainly is!

Starting from right outside your accommodation door, you’ll find loads of lift and piste options, ensuring Val Thorens is as challenging or as easy to ski as you want.

Yes, the lift map looks as ‘busy’ as a London Underground Map, but in essence, you can access and move around the whole of the Three Valleys easily from Val Thorens. Just be aware of end of the day bottlenecks and lift closing times

And if you’re asking the question ‘Is it worth buying a full, Three Valleys lift pass?’, the answer is yes! It’s amazing to be able to traverse across into the valleys and experience skiing in the likes of Meribel and Courchevel.

Everything you need for your ski holiday in Val Thorens

Even though you are at a really high altitude, you’ll find all the shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants you need in Val Thorens, open seven days a week in season.

Vegetarians and vegans might have a hard time eating in restaurants, as there is a lot of cheese in all its forms and charcuterie too, but there are some truly sumptuous dining options, including the Michelin-starred Explorateurs at the Hotel Pashmina and highly-rated Diamant Noir.

For none-budget busting eating out, we can highly recommend John’s American Diner for, you guessed it, a decent burger. Hotel Tango’s restaurant is always popular, especially when it’s BBQ time and La Piscine at the entrance to the Sports Centre is usually good value too.

Val Thorens Institutions

A ski holiday in Val Thorens wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the legendary apres-ski party on the slopes that is La Folie Douce. Sure, it’ll max out your credit card, but it has to be done at least once.

Access is via the Plein Sud of Pionniers lifts and the infamous bar and restaurant sits on the Plein Sud piste. Just remember you have to ski back down!

And in case you’re wondering whether Val Thorens is purely a party resort, fear not it’s all good for families too, with lots of activities and events for children..

If you’re researching where the best place to stay in Val Thorens is, Club Med is difficult to beat. They’ll sort ski hire, lift passes and even ski lessons with their own, dedicated ski instructors. And with the full-board concept you can’t go wrong, with a huge choice of bars and eateries.

Val Thorens transfers

Heading to Europe’s highest ski resort on a private transfer from Geneva Airport takes around three hours, a little longer on busy weekends. Mountain Drop-offs will take you right to the door of your accommodation in Val Thorens where possible. That means you get your holiday started straight away in this amazing Three Valleys resort and returning to the airport at Geneva is equally easy.

Skiing Orelle

When skiing in Val Thorens, doing an ‘up and over the mountain’ ski into the hidden ‘Fourth Valley’ of Orelle is a must! Our favourite way to access Orelle is by going over Cime de Caron, the highest point at 3200m – and it’s pretty wild and spectacular on the other side!

Val Thorens Ice Driving

Jump into the hot seat of a ice-prepped performance car and do some nice drifting on France’s highest ice circuit at Val Thorens. It costs a lot and it’s not very eco-friendly, but it is fun and unique!

CosmoJet Sledging

Take the Peclet Funitel up and collect your sledge to take on France’s longest sledge run. It’s 6km black down to resort and make sure you’re appropriately dressed, because it’s fast, furious and the snow goes everywhere!

Sunset Skiing

During the main Val Thorens ski season, the Peclet Funitel stays open until 18:30, so you ski the Tete Ronde and Christine pistes as the sun goes down in a totally instagrammable way – and it’s included in your lift pass.
