During the winter season Mountain Drop-offs offers a range of airport transfer services from Grenoble Airport direct to your favourite French ski resorts on a private basis. We operate private transfers from Grenoble to favourite resorts like Val d’Isere, Tignes, Les Arcs. La Plagne, Meribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens every day of the week. Please contact us if your resort is not mentioned.
Let’s face it, when you arrive at Grenoble after a long journey, no-one wants to be stuck waiting in a taxi queue in the freezing cold, or being shepherded onto a coach and taken all around the houses before reaching your accommodation. You’re here to ski and you just want to get going. That’s the advantage of a private transfer. Up to eight passengers (and your luggage) travel directly to where you want to go and we’ll be waiting for you at the airport.

Mountain Drop-offs and Grenoble Airport
Grenoble Alpes-Isère Airport, to give it its proper name, is actually in the town of Saint Etienne de Saint Geoirs, which is 40km north of Grenoble itself. Grenoble Airport (IATA code GRB) is a small and friendly airport that has attracted low-cost airlines in recent years and plays a very large role in welcoming charter flights during the winter season for ski and snowboard holidays in the Savoie area.
And this is where Mountain Drop-offs comes in. For private transfers, we are ready waiting for you when your flight lands and we’ll take your group of up to eight passengers direct to your accommodation in resort, along with your luggage. And that includes skis too, when they’ve been booked in with us in advance. Sam if you’re travelling with children. We offer child seats adapted to the child’s age for free when requested at the time of booking, subject to availability.
We’ll be there to meet you at Grenoble Airport
Once you arrive at Grenoble Airport you will be met by your Mountain Drop-offs driver or representative who’ll be in the arrivals hall with easy-to-spot signage. So no need to worry about what happens when you pick your luggage off the carousel and walk out into arrivals. We’ll be there.
Then once the whole party has gathered, you’ll make your way outside to the minibus, load up your baggage and you’re off. And of course, the journey is direct to your chosen resort and, in normal circumstances, we’ll take you right to the door of your accommodation. Or as near as we can get if the snow is falling hard!
Dropped off directly at Departures on your return to Grenoble
On your return to the airport, your Mountain Drop-offs driver will pick you up from the address you communicated to us in resort and drive you back to Grenoble. For your flight out of Grenoble, you will be dropped you off outside the departures hall, so you can conveniently go straight to check-in.
At Mountain Drop-offs we have been operating airport transfers since 2003 and we carry large numbers of passengers from Grenoble Airport to and from the full range of French Alps mountain resorts in comfortable mini buses with experienced drivers at the wheel.
A day in the life of Grenoble Airport
Winter flights into Grenoble
Grenoble Airport comes alive during the winter ski season, with a plethora of seasonal scheduled and charter flights operating in and out of the airport. That’s because over 150 ski resorts are accessible in less than one and half hour’s drive away. Road access to the airport is quick, as the airport connects easily to the main ‘autoroutes’ or motorways.
Perennially popular ski resorts such as the Three Valleys and Espace Killy are all accessible from Grenoble Airport, with transfers taking on average 140 minutes and 160 minutes respectively.
Bringing the Brits to Grenoble!
The vast majority of clients arriving at Grenoble are British, with 77% of all passengers arriving from the UK, which is why Mountain Drop-offs decided to launch private transfers from Grenoble in 2010 and can be booked directly through the Mountain Drop-offs online system.
In fact, statistics show that during the winter ski season Grenoble Airport welcomes a total of 11 airlines with flights to and from various UK airports. This all means that on a busy Saturday during the ski season, the airport handles up to 60 flights a day. Over a year the airport sees nearly 40,000 take offs and landings into Grenoble, carrying over 300,000 passengers. But fear not, there’s room for everyone, as the capacity is for around one million passengers.
Small, but with the essential facilities
Although Grenoble Airport is small compared to the likes of Geneva Airport or London Gatwick, facilities are pretty good. You can expect an ATM machine, ‘duty free’ shops, a newsagents selling everything from magazines and newspapers, to chocolate and souvenirs, as well as a ‘bureau de change’.
When it comes to food and drink, there’s one main Sequoia Restaurant and Bar, with the Trib’s takeaway snack and drinks bar too. You’ll be pleased to hear there’s free wifi access, you just have to create an account.
As you can imagine, finding your way around a smaller regional airport like Grenoble is pretty easy. Terminal D is departures, Terminal A is arrivals and Terminal B is business. It’s as easy as that. As for your private transfer, we’ll be there for you when you arrive to whisk you straight off to the slopes.
Whilst Grenoble isn’t bustling year round, it certainly comes to life in winter with lots of flights from the UK. Flying into Grenoble is a great option for those wanting to ski in the Three Valleys, Espace Killy and Paradiski, to name but three of the most popular ski areas within 90 minutes of Grenoble’s Alpes-Isere Airport.
